This site is for Community Land Trust practitioners, facilitators and anyone interested in holding or developing land in perpetuity for community benefit. The idea is that we can all learn from and inspire each other as we travel the road less travelled.

Designated land as a financial asset

I wonder if anyone can help me with this question.A councillor has challenged our proposals for a CLT because we have suggested that land be placed in trust 'in perpetuity' for the community use (children's play) for which it is currently designated. He has suggested that such a move would negate the realisable value of the land and therefore undermine one of the main supposed benefits of the community asset transfer policy, i.e. the capitalisation of the voluntary and community sector.Other…See More
